Due to the lockdown, all the schools across India are closed, and the children are being taught online, to which these poor kids do not have access. Moreover, living in isolation out of fear of spreading the virus or contracting it can psychologically impact them. As per the sources of Anchal Charitable Trust, the most brutal blow fell on them when many of their families were pushed out of work and had to starve. But the lockdowns across India are needed to curb the spread of COVID-19. In such a scenario, local and national officials have to ensure children’s well-being and education.

With the spike in cases during the second lockdown, officials have imposed a new lockdown to prevent a collapse of the healthcare system that already faces a critical shortage of beds, ventilators and medical oxygen. But this has also added to the woes of numerous families living in villages, slums or construction sites. The children from these places face the maximum hardships, ranging from child abuse due to the frustration of elders and even human trafficking.

As per Mr. Sanjeev Sheel, CEO of the Anchal Charitable Trust, the second wave has proved to be more dangerous than the previous one. The impact will have on the children is beyond imagination. At these times, it is of utmost importance to cater to children’s needs and look after their necessities.

Children who are differently-abled and female children are among the particular sections to which the NGO devotes attention. The mental health of the children, especially among such crisis, are also given primary importance and is being looked after by the team’s acclaimed psychologists.

As per the sources, calls to an Indian helpline childcare line has increased since the onset of the pandemic. It is also stated that it will increase in the upcoming times. The abnormality caused by shutting down schools and separation from friends proves to be quite a bit of a struggle for them.
