The Association defines artificial intelligence as the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behaviors and their embodiment in machines for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. This definition seems quite technical but Artificial intelligence is simply intelligent behaviors in machines or even simpler, reasoning machines.

The human understanding of intelligence is still quite rudimentary and quite difficult to describe. There have been several definitions for intelligence put forth over the years including 'the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge', consciousness or self-awareness.

Weighing in on the discussion during an investment forum that was held recently in New York City, Mr. Jeffrey Cohen said, "The ability of machines to have intelligence remains to be seen but there is rapid increase in related technology. Considering the well of information that computers can store and process today, I would certainly bet that machine intelligence is not too far around the corner."

There are have been various concepts and ideas brought forth over the past years in relation to artificial intelligence. The most notable being 'The Singularity', which is expected to be an era where the accelerating progress in technology will lead to exceeding artificial intelligence much farther beyond human intellectual capacity and control. However, there are still varying predictions given by futurists as to when this event will occur.

Regardless of this, scientists are still making their best attempts towards artificial intelligence. For instance, currently, scientists are working on a computer that can understand a good joke. The thought of comedic computers was propagated by the belief that humor is a crucial aspect of improving the interaction between a human and a computer.

"From comedic computers to chat bots, scientists have put their best foot forwards towards artificial intelligence. We are in for an interesting ride, I am following this keenly", added the renowned private equity expert.
