Monsignor Emery Kabongo Kanundowi (Bena-Kazadi-Tshikula, July 22, 1940) is a Catholic Archbishop of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Monsignor Emery Kabongo Kanundowi was born in Bena-Kazadi-Tshikula, Democratic Republic of Congo in July 22, 1940.

He received priestly ordination in August 15, 1969.

Monsignor Emery Kabongo Kanundowi has dedicated is life to the service of needed people following moral values and virtues that are undoubtedly essential and indispensable to foster fraternal relations among human beings as Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Diligence, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Chastity, Humility.

He earned many degrees.

He studied canon law at the Pontifical Urban University.

He attended the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy and joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See's doing his service in the Korean nunciature and Brazil.

In 1982 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II's second secretary, service that played until 1987.

He worked side by side with John Paul II from 1982 to 1987, traveling alongside the Pope in all his international trips.

On 10 December 1987 Pope Jean-Paul II gave him the personal title of archbishop of Luebo in Democratic Republic Of Congo and on January 6th, 1988 he received his episcopal order by Pope Jean Paul II .

Since 2003 he is canon of the chapter of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
