Procedure for Exporting Gmail Contacts
Exporting your contacts from Gmail account lets you to pile up your contacts as a file on your system, both for safety and for effortless transfer to another mail service. Go through below steps to learn how.
1. Visit your Gmail account. The best way to transfer your Google contacts is by using the Gmail web interface. You can’t export contacts with mobile Gmail app, so you are required to have access to a computer.
2. Now, hit on the Gmail link appears in the top-left corner. You’ll find a down arrow symbol next to it. Pick Contacts from the menu that appears. It will load the Contacts manager.
3. After that choose the contacts you want to export. For exporting only specific contacts, check the box at the side of each contact that you desire to transfer. If you want to transfer all of your contacts, or all of a particular group, then you don’t need to check any box.
4. Click the “More” button which appears at the top of your contacts list. It has a down arrow sign at the side of it. Hit the “Export” from the menu.
5. Select which group of contacts you want to export. If you already checked particular contacts in Step 3, you can pick the “Selected contacts” option. One can also select a group of contacts or all of their contacts. The number beside each option will represent the exact number of contacts that can be exported with this option.
6. Choose your format. At this level you will find three different format choices to pick from, choose the one suitable option. The format options will be as follows:
• Outlook CSV: This option is for transferring contacts to programs and services that can import CSV files, such as Yahoo!, Outlook, Mail.com, and more.
• Google CSV: It is best used option for exporting contacts into any other Google account. This is helpful if you are making a new account but desire to maintain your old contacts, or you need a backup for your contact list in case something went wrong with your Google account.
• vCard: It is best suited option when you need to export contacts to the Apple Address Book, and iCloud, or some other contact organizers
7. At last download the file. Click on the Export button when you’ve done with selecting your format. Soon, the exported contacts file will be downloaded into your system. According to your web browser’s settings, the contact file may download automatically, or you may be provoked to save it. After the completion of file downloading, you can import the same to your program of choice.
