Canada, 15, JAN – We could all use self-love, as depicted in Annick's latest release, You Bee You, and I'll Bee Me. The story revolves around two bees, Blake and Mason. Mason is a bee born without wings, something stereotypically termed as a "Flaw." But Mason exudes utmost self-love and acceptance for how it is. The apparent flaw sets him apart from the crowd and provides a different array of opportunities for Mason.
On the other hand, Blake is seen extremely sensitive about the topic. They discuss how they differ and take different approaches to fulfill their pollination duty. As bees could fly from one flower to another, Mason cannot. So, instead of sulking over being 'different' or 'flawed,' it embraces its true identity and climbs on flowers. This not only benefits him by making it able to collect more pollens faster but also instills confidence in itself and its abilities.
It is a beautiful short story giving the message of self-acceptance, self-love, and kindness. Everyone is different, and everyone deserves to be loved and respected. Mason is a source of hope for the "Unique individuals" out there. Believe in yourself, love yourself for who you are, and conquer the world!
