After earning a degree in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a J.D. from Chicago Kent College of Law, Kelly pursued an LLM in Transnational Business and Tax, including international studies in Salzburg and an internship in Copenhagen.
His legal career led him from Chicago to New York, where he specialized in criminal defense and family law while raising his son as a single parent. In 2020, Kelly fulfilled a lifelong dream of writing, drawing inspiration from his deep connection to Chicago.
