AACS Counseling Delivers Online DOT SAP Evaluations to Remote Drivers Across the U.S.
Atlanta, GA — CDL drivers in rural towns and remote regions across the U.S. often struggle to access DOT-qualified Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs) due to location, limited resources, or lack of transportation. In response, AACS Counseling has expanded its nationwide online SAP evaluation program, ensuring that rural and underserved areas have access to DOT-compliant return-to-duty services—without requiring long-distance travel.
“Drivers in rural areas shouldn’t be penalized just because the nearest SAP is hours away,” says a lead SAP from AACS Counseling. “Our secure, online evaluations bring certified help directly to their screen—fast, affordable, and DOT-approved.”
Under 49 CFR Part 40, a SAP evaluation is mandatory after any DOT drug or alcohol violation. Until recently, many drivers had to travel long distances for in-person evaluations. Today, thanks to HIPAA-secure video technology and certified virtual SAPs, that burden is gone.
✅ How the Online SAP Evaluation Works for Rural Drivers
Easy Online Booking
Drivers can schedule a same-week evaluation from any device with internet access.
Private Video Evaluation
The DOT-qualified SAP conducts the assessment via a secure video call, fully compliant with federal regulations.
Treatment/Education Referral
Based on the evaluation, a recommendation is made. Rural drivers can also complete these programs online, avoiding any commute.
Follow-Up Assessment
After finishing the recommended plan, a second video session verifies compliance.
Return-to-Duty Reporting
Once cleared, the SAP uploads the report to the FMCSA Clearinghouse, allowing the driver to resume work legally.

“This is about protecting both careers and communities. Rural CDL drivers are the backbone of our supply chain, and they deserve equal access to recovery and reinstatement resources,” added the AACS Counseling spokesperson.
