The USA, 10 February 2023: An apostille is a certificate of authenticates a document’s origin. Apostille is valid only for documents originating in countries covered by the Hague Conference on Private International Law. Apostilles requires birth certificates, diplomas and transcripts, powers of attorney, and birth certificates. As notaries, we assist clients in processing their paperwork and sometimes provide courier services. Even though notaries public are not required to assist with the apostille process, many documents requiring an apostille must notarize before being apostille-able, so having a notary commission is beneficial. When deciding how to handle an apostille request, there are many distinct factors to consider. Most of the paperwork I've processed, though, has been quite straightforward and merely needed an apostille from the Secretary of States Apostille Unit.
