Chef Murph’s Joins NJ Farmers Against Hunger
I have joined the Team NJ Farmers Against Hunger something dear to my heart. I grew up on an Amish Farm in Lancaster, PA where we wasted nothing! Meeting, resourceful people on the fight against hunger, Excited! Can't wait to soon be working against this real issue in our world and cooking with them. After doing research I find that this a great resource for real food for real people in need. This is added value sustainability program in action if you take 100 Air miles from the state Capital Trenton NJ there is over 58.6 million people and 1 out of 5 is hungry. That is unacceptable!!! Their mission providing fresh, healthy produce for our state’s most impoverished residents. Linking, farms across the state to hunger-relief organizations. Organizing gleanings with volunteers to help harvest crops, educating the communities on healthy eating, I am all in!! The program has partnered with local food pantries and feeding organizations, who receive this surplus, produce on a weekly basis during the harvest season. Been told they are now we link over 50 farms to 50+organizations and deliver over 1 million lbs of recover food that farmers would have thrown away each year. XoxoX
