As it stands, Warcraft should be even bigger. Duncan Jones' film cost $160m to make.
Warcraft has done well in the UK, too, winning the spring/summer half-term box office with ￡3.62m from 3rd-5th June, according to The Guardian. It beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and it thrashed Hitman: Agent 47's debut of ￡961,000.
But Warcraft remains "not a good film", as Oli wrote in his review. "Dry, garbled, plot-heavy and charm-free, with a seriously anticlimactic ending and strained production design that doesn't manage to resolve the games' outlandish look into a coherent mix of CGI and live action." Nevertheless, he added, "it's not a total bust". For the Warcraft faithful there are things to appreciate. And thankfully for Blizzard and film-maker Legendary, there are plenty of Warcraft faithful.
