The base game patch, which will be available to all players regardless of whether or not they own Dark Brotherhood, will also remove Veteran Ranks from the game, add new grouping functionality, and give console players the chance to show their character names rather than their platform ID. Players can check out the base game patch notes on the official forums right now, since Dark Brotherhood and the accompanying patch are currently on the public test server.
According to the notes, the Champion System will replace Veteran Ranks when the patch occurs. The Champion Point cap will be set at 501 when the update releases and players with Veteran Ranks before the update will receive a few Champion Points per each Veteran Rank of their highest leveled character. With the new system, a fresh max level 50 character will immediately be able to equip Champion level gear, since Champion Points are shared at the account level.
