If you’re thinking about starting therapy, it’s natural to wonder what the experience will actually feel like. Will it be helpful? Will you feel safe opening up? Will your therapist “get” you?

I’m Deborah Weisberg, a licensed therapist based in Los Angeles, and I offer online individual therapy for people looking for real support with life’s challenges. My approach is grounded, direct, and warm. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, or just feeling stuck, my goal is to help you feel supported as you work through it.

A Grounded and Honest Approach

I bring a straightforward, down-to-earth style to therapy. That means you’ll find a space where you can be yourself—no pressure to perform, explain everything perfectly, or always have answers. Therapy with me isn’t about giving advice or quick fixes. It’s about slowing things down and getting curious about what’s really going on underneath the surface.

While we’ll talk about what’s happening in your day-to-day life, we’ll also take time to explore patterns that may have developed over time. I draw on psychodynamic therapy, which means we’ll look at how past experiences might still be shaping your present. This isn’t about blaming the past—it’s about understanding what’s holding you back, so you can move forward with more freedom and clarity.

Safe, Supportive, and Gently Challenging

My style is warm, but I’m not just a passive listener. I’ll gently challenge you when something seems important to look at more closely. At the same time, I respect your pace. Therapy is a collaboration—we’ll work together to find the right rhythm and focus.

Many people come to therapy feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, or even ashamed about their struggles. I create a space that feels safe and non-judgmental, where you can bring whatever you’re feeling. I believe the simple act of talking things through with someone who truly listens and understands can be deeply healing.

What We’ll Work On Together

You don’t have to come into therapy with a clear goal—many people don’t. We can start by exploring what’s not working in your life right now. From there, we can look at where you feel stuck, what keeps you from feeling satisfied or connected, and what patterns might be repeating.

Common themes we might explore in individual therapy include:

Anxiety or feeling constantly on edge

Depression or a lack of motivation

Grief and loss

Relationship challenges

Low self-esteem or self-doubt

Feeling “not good enough”

Difficulty making decisions

Wanting more meaning or purpose in life

Starting the Therapy Process

Beginning therapy is a brave step. It means you're ready to look at your life and make space for change, even if you’re not sure what that change will look like yet. I deeply respect anyone who has the courage to begin this process.

If you’re curious about working together, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. We can talk about what’s going on for you, and you can ask any questions you might have. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’ve tried it before, I’d be honored to be part of your journey.
