In the pursuit of promoting trade, investments and technological tie-ups between India and the United States, the IACC aka Indo-American Chamber of Commerce hosted a one-day Food Processing and Technology Summit at Eco Vista, Kolkata. This most-awaited summit took place on 12th April, 2019 with the assistance of USAI, New Delhi.

Over the past few years, the food processing sector in India has witnessed a staggering hike. In a quest to throw a light on this upward-swing of Indian food processing sector, this summit was organized. The summit also unraveled the critical role of the Eastern region in this unprecedented proliferation.

Besides including a number of focused panel discussions as well as technical sessions on a verity of industry-related subjects, the IACC summit was also addressed by numerous industry representatives, policy makers, and food technology experts.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Anil Vaswani, the Regional President IACC, affirmed, “The food processing industry of India is finally obtaining its due, thanks to the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and some breakthrough strategies. Almost every integral segment of the food processing sector including, pre & post harvest solutions, logistics, supply chain, wholesale, retail, etc. have come a long way in regards to developing this sector.”

The IACC summit was graced by the presence of a number of top-tier organizations including, Megaa Moda Pvt. Ltd., Keventer Agro, Vindhyachal Agro Pvt. Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation India, and ITC Foods. The summit was graced by a throng of 100+ delegates from the industry representing over 40 organizations.

Mr. Vaswani added, “Only the wastages were estimated at 30% of the entire production of vegetables and fruits in India owing to the scarce of storage, ample transportation, processing facilities, and the likes. Here at this summit, we are elated to have some of the most popular delegates and speakers from the food processing sector with us. I am sure that their brilliant ideas and suggestions will certainly abet the aspiring food processors of India in bridging the gap in this sector.”

The seafood industry has reached a new height in the past few years. In a quest to shed a light on the soaring popularity of seafoods, Mr. Yogesh Gupta, the Managing Director of Megaa Moda affirms, “It’s indeed a great privilege to be standing here and welcoming this distinguished gathering of the Food Processing and Technology Summit 2019.”

Mr. Gupta further added, “The global seafood industry has been proliferated by leaps and bounds, thanks to the mammoth advancements in seafood processing strategies and technologies. Today the entire seafood industry has been given the opportunities to fulfill customer expectations, exchange new ideas and tap into the rapid technological progress across the globe. We are expecting this sector to undergo more proliferation in the forthcoming years.”

In this context, Mr. S. K. Sarkar, the National President, IACC, affirmed, “Being a guiding light in this path of progress, IACC has been instrumental in facilitating both the Indian and American organizations in the food processing sector. We are striving hard to facilitate a lot more tie-ups amongst the small and medium enterprises in India and the United States. By embracing new technologies and leveraging the existing ones, both these countries have brought a discernible tweak in their respective food processing industries.”

Today, India has successfully held itself on a good stead in regards to its seafood production. The Indian seafood i.e. shrimps; prawns, etc. are processed in a sustainable way, whether it’s from the capture to cultural resources. Indian seafood is absolutely safe; obtained from the pristine water and processed in environment-friendly farms.
