That’s what a proximity probe does. It is an edgy current probe (displacement transducer). It is a two-wire loop-powered transmitter which combines an edgy current probe driver and a signal conditioner in a single package. It seems to be a cheaper option to try rack-mount monitors and work with the loop-powered driver/transmitter.
