You can do more harm that good if you attempt to build up muscle mass fast by using steroids, stimulants or other harmful substances.Make your goals reasonable when trying to build muscle. The most effective way to get the results you want is to develop your muscles during hundreds of workouts that are spaced out over a period of time. Using steroids, stimulants or other harmful substances in order to build muscle will cause damage to the body, and may even cause more serious consequences.Only exercise three or four times each week. By limiting your weekly workouts, you give your muscles time to recover from the intense exercises. Overworking your body will lead to injuries, which will keep you out of the gym and from reaching your goals.Use caution when it comes to how heavy you lift because certain exercises are not good for lifting heavy. Exercising your neck, doing split squats, and doing dips can all compromise your joints and put you in jeopardy of getting seriously injured. More weight should be reserved for bigger exercises such as rows, presses, dead lifts and squats.See if you can work opposing groups of muscles within the same workout, using the chest muscles in conjunction with back muscles or hamstrings together with the quad muscles. This is a good way to let a muscle rest while you focus on another one. This method is also more efficient and allows you to increase your intensity since your workout is shorter.When trying to increase muscle mass, snack on protein-rich foods prior to working out, and again after you finish. Try eating 15 grams 30 minutes prior to your workout, followed by another 15 grams once you finish. This is about the same as one or two cups of milk.You should only do a complete muscle-building workout every other day. You want to provide time for your body to repair itself. Too much exercise may cause injury and that can be counterproductive.Use smarts as you are doing squats. Move the bar to the area on your back closest to the trap's center. This will increase the work your glutes, hamstrings and hips perform, allowing you to take on more weight for each rep.
