Das Medion Akoya E3222 wird ab dem 30. August bei ALDI-Süd und ALDI-Nord zu haben sein. Das 13,3-Zoll-Display nutzt ein IPS-Panel und bietet einen Touchscreen. Die Auflösung wird vom Hersteller mit 1920x1080 Pixeln angegeben. Damit soll das Gerät dank der relativ geringen Größe eine verhältnismäßig hohe Pixeldichte erzielen. Im Innern tut der bekannte Intel Celeron N4100 seinen Dienst, bei dem es sich um einen vierkernigen SoC aus der "Gemini-Lake"-Serie von Intel handelt. Der Chip arbeitet mit 1,1 Gigahertz, ist aber in der Lage bei Bedarf kurzzeitig eine maximale Taktrate von bis zu 2,4 Gigahertz zu erreichen. Er wird mit vier Gigabyte Arbeitsspeicher und 64 GB internem Flash-Speicher auf eMMC-5.1-Basis ergänzt, wobei eine Erweiterung des Speichers mittels MicroSD-Kartenslot möglich ist.

Alte Notebook-Akkus müssen nicht zwingend auf dem Müll oder im Recycling landen, sondern können erst einmal anderen Verwendungszwecken zugeführt werden. Denn auch wenn sie einen Rechner nicht mehr optimal versorgen können, reicht ihre Leistung für verschiedene andere Aufgaben noch völlig aus. Das geht aus einer Studie hervor, die von der indischen Forschungs-Abteilung des IT-Konzerns IBM durchgeführt wurde. Demnach reicht die Leistung von 70 Prozent der Akkus, die von den Notebook-Nutzern ausgesondert werden, noch völlig aus, um in Verbindung mit stromsparenden LED-Lampen noch für mindestens ein Jahr täglich vier Stunden Beleuchtung zu gewährleisten.
