Wants to remove the physical and emotional scars of an abusive marriage

Marshall, MN – Domestic violence survivor Christine Moya has launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe.com to raise $2000 to pay for dental work that will restore the winning smile she lost in an abusive marriage.

Moya, who suffered physical and verbal abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, has been carrying the painful scars since the divorce in 1992. She needs the money by February 16, 2015 to replace the teeth lost when her ex-husband shoved her into rot iron door shortly after the divorce.

The initial dental work has outgrown its usefulness over the years, affecting her health and self-esteem. Moya is finally about to get a new set of permanent dentures from Marshall Dental Excellence that will bring back her winning smile, allow her to work again and step out with confidence. Since health insurance will not cover the cost of the dental work, the funds raised on GoFundMe will go towards the final bill of $2112.

“My self-esteem has suffered dearly because of this and I just want to look in the mirror and not be reminded about what has happened. I want my smile healed, because it has really changed a lot since then. I'm also looking forward to being able to eat properly again and getting healthy,” Moya says.

Having survived her harrowing experience, Moya has also had to endure thyroid disease and a severely deviated septum. She wants to use her experience to help other survivors of domestic abuse by sharing her story through her personal website, www.abuseisnotfunny.com . Interested donors can contribute to the GoFundMe campaign or directly to Moya on her website.
