Leaking taps cost you more in monthly utility bills than the time and parts to repair them. The parts to repair a Glacier Bay 3-handled tap are free from the manufacturer, and it will only take you about an hour to rebuild the whole bath tap.
Instructions
1、Shut off the water supply to the home at the city water meter or well house. In some apartment buildings and condominiums, you need to contact the property's maintenance office.
2、Remove all three tap handles. In the center of each tap handle is a button or plug that covers the screw holding the handles on the kitchen tap. With your hand, pry each button out and set to the side. Use your screwdriver to remove each screw, and set them with the buttons. Pull each handle off and set aside.
3、Take off the tap trim. Remove the tap's escutcheons, the chrome plates that slide over the tap cartridge nuts. The cartridge nuts are the round chrome tubes with hexagon ends. With an adjustable wrench, turn the nuts counter-clockwise until they are loose and then remove by hand.
4、Replace the cartridges. Using the slip joint pliers, grasp the ends of the cartridges and pull them out of the tap body. With a washcloth, clean out any debris from the inside of each cartridge barrel to ensure a proper fit between the new cartridges and tap body. Insert each new cartridge one at a time. Hold each cartridge in place with one hand while screwing the sleeve on with your other hand, then tighten firmly with the pliers or wrench.
5、Reinstall the tap escutcheons and handles. Slide the escutcheons on the sleeves and push them all the way back to the shower wall. Push the handles on the cartridge stems, and secure with the holding screws. Insert the hot, cold, and diverter buttons back in place. Turn the water on. Look over the tap for leaks, especially around the cartridge sleeves and handles.
