Now it's time for you to remove the hood and check if your electric golf cart's heart survived winter's deep freeze. Although most deep cycle 6 and 8 volt batteries can survive and last for at least 2 to 5 years, harsh conditions like extreme cold or heat can drastically reduce the battery's lifespan. A lack of "cycling" the batteries, which is discharging and recharging them, can lead to their premature death.

You will need a few tools to ensure that your deep cycle (6 and 8 volt) is properly checked and maintained.

Voltmeter o Gloves and Goggles
o Clamp Cleaner / Post
Hydrometer
o Distilled Water (Baking Soda) and Petroleum Jelly

Wear protective gear when handling any battery. Also, remove all jewelry from the battery. This can cause serious injury. Avoid allowing any battery acid from the batteries to contact your skin. If contact occurs, rinse your skin immediately. Baking soda can neutralize any battery acid that has been spilled and any corrosion around the posts. Do not add acid to batteries or smoke when replacing them. The hydrogen gas produced by batteries is highly flammable and explosive, especially in small areas.

1) Check the appearance of the batteries. Examine for cracks. Check for corrosion on battery posts. (Batteries that are damaged, leaking, bulging, or worn out should be replaced.
2) Secure the vent caps. Rinse the battery with water and dry it with a towel. Never use solvents or cleansers.
3. Disconnect the clamps. Use a clamp and post cleaner to clean the clamps and battery terminals.
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the battery posts. Then, reconnect the clamps.

Only add water after your golf cart batteries have been fully charged. Water should be able to cover the battery plates before charging. The water level should not be below the plates of the battery, regardless of whether it is fully or partially charged.

o Do not overfill your batteries.
Use only distilled water
Ensure that you regularly check the water level and add enough to reach the battery plates.

When maintaining your golf cart, it is important that you read the owner's manual. Regular maintenance will keep your batteries in peak condition for many years. For more detail visit https://www.18650batterystore.com/products/uno-batteries-48v-90ah-lithium-golf-cart-battery.
