The 6th Edition of Fleming Gulf's Managing Local Talent, an annual summit that gathers the regions' experts and HR specialists from across multiple sectors, was inaugurated today at the Crowne Plaza, Doha - Qatar. As the leading platform to connect, discuss and learn the most successful practices being implemented under nationalization initiatives, summit chairman; Dr. Nairouz Bader - Global Board Director of AESC, welcomed all participants and delivered the opening remarks that set the tone for the summit proceedings.
Mr. Haya Nasser Al-Attiya, who is Associate Vice President for Student Success and Development at Qatar University opened the discussion with a keynote address on 'The National University’s Role in Developing National Talent' to over 90 attendees, comprising of high ranking company officials from across the Middle East region, who have participated in this summit.
Highlights of day one included the keynote presentations on Developing National Leaders for a Sustainable Future from Dr. Kholode Al Obaidli - Vice President - National Talent Management of Qatar Airways, and Designing a Qatari Value Proposition (QVP) presented by Sharoq Al Malki, Chief Human Capital Resource Officer - Commercial Bank of Qatar.
A insightful presentation from Alharith Alatawi, CEO of Khaljana on 'Enabling the employment of Gulf Nationals across the GCC' threw insights into the challenges HR professionals face while hiring Gulf Nationals and the need for better collaboration between the private sector and government authorities. The summit also hosted Abdulla Al Mansoori of Qatar Foundation who spoke on QUADRU -Dimensional Career Decision Making Paradigm and Essa Al Mulla, Chief-National Work Force Development Knowledge & Human Development Authority, UAE from Emirates National Development Program (ENDP) who spoke on 'Emiratisation To 2021 and the Expo Effect'. Panel discussions on “Meeting Workforce Nationalization Expectations and Supporting Region‘s Growth” and “Nationalization Strategy 2.0 : 5 years from now, next level of Managing Local Talent” were actively debated by all panelists .
The summit continues on November 11, 2014 with orations by Ali Shaher, Assistant Director Talent Development from Ooredoo, Qatar, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Horr, CEO of Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), Munib Shadid, Learning & Development Head from Kuwait Oil Company and other industry experts.
