Over the last few years construction of pipelines has been on the rise to meet energy requirements world over. Protecting these pipelines from factors like vandalism, corrosion etc has become the need of the hour for companies. Dr. Naji Abi Aad, COO at Petroleb - Lebanon is scheduled to speak on the security of petroleum pipelines in the Middle East East at the 4th Annual Pipeline Integrity Summit to be held from 19 - 21 May 2014 at the Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi - UAE. The summit is gathering global asset integrity professionals to discuss and adopt best practices to maximize pipeline life cycle.

With over 30 years of experience in the energy industry, Dr. Abi-Aad became the COO at Petroleb in September 2012. He studied at the American University of Beirut before been awarded a Ph.D. degree in Energy Economics from Grenoble University in France. The three day summit will feature two pre - conference workshops on day one and case studies and presentations on days two and three. Topics being covered at the summit include evaluation of steel mechanical properties using automated ball indentation system, pipeline coating failures & failure analysis using the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) method, integrity risk assessment of condensate spiking in gas pipelines, effective corrosion management for transmission pipelines and life extension of difficult to inspect offshore pipelines.
