In order to cope with challenges like economy changes and varying regulatory standards, refineries are now turning towards more cost effective solutions.

Refineries world over are facing various challenges when it comes to utilizing resources to cope up with the economy changes, varying regulatory standards and optimizing processes while maximizing productivity. A recent article reported that France's Total announced a 10% dip in its first quarter profits owing to declined oil and gas production and output at its refineries in Europe. Focus on new technologies and innovations seeking profitable and sustained operations has become the prime need of the hour for refineries.

4th Annual Global Refining Technology Forum to be held from 15 - 17 September 2014 in Doha, Qatar will gather global refining experts to look into pressing issues and best possible solutions to overcome them. Some key topics to be covered at the forum include environmental protection and effective utilization of flare gas, sustainable profit improvement and cost minimization opportunities, heavy oil characteristics and processing to produce middle distillates, achieve enhanced reliability in refining through corrosion management and improving the operation, reliability and efficiency of the operating hydrogen systems in refinery. An overview of these topics will not only help delegates get updated to the latest and best practices but also help implement the same in their own organizations.

Presentations, case studies and panel discussions on the first two days will see participation from companies like ORYX GTL, Eni Refining & Marketing - Italy, Sinopec - Germany, SASOL, Chevron - USA, Borouge - UAE and Kuwait University. A technical workshop on advanced steam condensate system will be held on the final day of the forum. Now in its fourth edition, the forum seeks to create an avenue to exchange view points concerning the future and simultaneously aim to benefit from the experience of other countries.
