An Expert’s Take on Making The Most of Tenders

Posted March 22, 2022 by madrigalcomm

This past weekend, we had the chance to attend a technical writing panel discussion with some well-known names in the industry. After a lively session, we had the opportunity to talk with Tim Entwisle, CEO of Madrigal Communications.

Entwisle has two decades of experience in the industry. Entwisle has worked on a range of business communications and technical writing projects. Entwisle has worked with organisations of all sizes, including government organisations and large corporations. Presently, Entwisle is the CEO and director at a specialist copywriting and tendering agency in NSW.

We were particularly interested in learning more about Entwisle’s approach to tender writing. He was kind enough to share his expertise on the subject, especially important for first-time writers.

“There is no question that tenders present an unparalleled opportunity for suppliers of all sizes. However, that also means there is fierce competition. If you want to win the contract, it is crucial that you invest resources in your tendering process.”.

Entwisle continues, “I urge budding writers to start by understanding the unique requirements of the buyer. You do not want to misunderstand or submit incomplete answers. It’s also important to adhere to formats, word limits and any other specifications mentioned.

While you may want to include every detail possible, it is better to stick to sharing relevant and useful information. Keep your tender proposal clear and succinct.”

“Lastly, I cannot emphasise enough the importance of proofreading. Grammatical errors can make you seem careless. Proofread the proposal multiple times before submitting it.”, concludes Entwisle.
