Los Angeles, CA (June 04, 2022) - It was in 1996 when a dangerous fire dashed through his Brentwood house, and very nearly killed David Topper, his wife and children. It was the alertness and timely action of Morgan Topper, David's child from a previous marriage, which ensured the safety of all the family members.

Morgan Topper, who was visiting David and his new family during special occasions, used a piece of yard furniture to break open a locked sliding-glass entryway and save his stepmother and stepbrother. The fire destroyed the down the stairs of the white Tudor-style structure before firemen could smother the blazes.

David, his better half, Alexa and their 3-year-old child, Alexander suffered severe burns and had to be admitted at a neighborhood hospital for treatment. But they escaped largely unharmed by the fire, thanks to Morgan – who was acknowledged by firemen for taking quick action.

Morgan himself was treated for inhalation of smoke issues and cuts and let out of a medical clinic by midmorning. The whole first floor was scorched by the fire, which evidently began in the family room and spread rapidly through the down the stairs of the two-story home.

David was admitted at Torrance Memorial Medical Center with severe singeing in more than 70% of his body. Alexa Topper had severe singeing in more than 30% of her body while Alexander was admitted in the Grossman Burn Center at Sherman Oaks Hospital for smoke inhalation problems.

The Topper family had leased the house for four or five months, when the fire hazard happened. Even today, David feels shaken when he thinks about the incident. In a recent statement to the media, he said that he is indebted to God and the timely action of his elder son Morgan that helped them escape from certain death on that fateful day in 1996.
