Electronic paper is a powerful display technology that has the potential to displace regular paper. E-paper, like LCD, belongs to the non-emissive display type and thus does not require a backlight. It is because natural light is sufficient.

The display comprises millions of microcapsules holding positively charged white and negatively charged black particles floating in a clear liquid, resulting in print-like resolution.

ELD (Electroluminescent Display)

Because of the strong electric field, electroluminescent display technology is well-known for using the light-emission phenomenon. Furthermore, they are noted for being a low-cost light source technology that results in minimal power consumption. In the ELD, a solid-state thin phosphor film and insulator stack is placed on a glass substrate and operated by high-voltage electronics to generate a positive and negative pulse.

The advantages of electroluminescent technology are lower usage and contrast ratios. It is advisable to focus on viewing angle values of 180 degrees.
