The 2nd Offshore Safety and Risk Forum 2015 will focus on the importance of people and process to ensure offshore safety.

The Norwegian offshore oil and gas industry has been considered as one of the most profitable, attracting more oil and gas investors in Norway. However, the sharp fall in oil prices have severely affected Norway's oil and gas industry. An article published in Bloomberg report states that drilling expenses have increased the costs by 10 percent in Norway's offshore oil and gas industry. Hasty job cuts have been made in the wake of increased costs and declined oil prices. The eventual consequence of this move could result in a major accident due to lack of maintenance and monitoring needed to stay safe and prevent accidents.

Keeping these current issues in view, the 2nd Offshore Safety and Risk Forum organised by Fleming Gulf at Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel, is themed as 'Excellence in Safety – Role of people and process'. The forum will focus on adopting standards of excellence to ensure continuous improvement in safety and offshore operational integrity. The past edition witnessed an encouraging response of over 70 unique attendees from 40 participating companies. Majority of them from Europe who contributed to the success of the event.

This year's key highlight includes two panel discussions being moderated by industry experts from Chevron, Wintershall, Conocophillips, Technip and CfL Danish Centre for Leadership. The two day event will witness an impressive line up of speakers which includes industry expert like Bjorn O Holst, Vice President Corporate Safety & Sustainability from Statoil, who will speak about advanced barrier management; one of the main reason for accidents in the process industry.

The conference will also feature presentations on topics like asset integrity management, psychology and behavioural safety, advancing safety culture in offshore oil & gas industry, risk associated with Arctic offshore field development and many more relevant topics.

Petrotechnics, strategic partner for the event, has been in the industry for 25 years and still strong provides innovative enterprise solutions for Oil and Gas, Chemicals and EPC industries. Visiting partner, Enablon, one of the world's leading provider of EHS and Operational Risk Management software, help companies meet their QEHS management and compliance challenges including environemtal analysis and reporting will also be present.
