I have not spent a dime on 2k(except to purchase it) and that I can state the 2k mycareer is years ahead of whatever madden has. The playground can also be among the funnest modes I've played far, particularly playing with friends. Myteam sucks but I do not mess with and ultimate team modes. MyLeague and MyGm are also far better than franchise and even though I like football way better than basketball, I play with only 2k pretty much because of the quality of their game. MLB the show still the best sports match, but non contact sports are way simpler to code.

Franchise mode is all that matters in a sports game and 2K MyLeague is the absolute pinnacle for that. Sure the other styles are trash P2W, however, MyLeague is easily the best franchise mode in any sports game ever. Greater than Madden'02, with the Texans expansion draft?
