Plano, TX, Aug. 09, 2016 – Two Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery surgeons have been honored by Texas Monthly magazine for the third consecutive year as being among the best in their field. Doctors Thomas Roshek and Chad Carlton have been named 2016 Texas Rising Stars and were honored in the magazine’s July edition.

Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors are named following an exhaustive selection process that is overseen annually by MSP communications and its independent research team. The journey toward recognition begins with a nomination process that asks physicians to recommend their peers who are renowned for excellence in their fields. Candidates are also selected through independent research meant to find those physicians who have been honored in their field or who have attained a notable level of achievement.

After candidates are identified, they are carefully vetted based on such factors as experience, professional achievement, board certifications, leadership positions, and more. From there, candidates undergo peer review by other physicians in the specialty field. Only doctors who earn the highest scores throughout the process are named to the Super Doctors list. This prestigious group represents only about 5 percent of the total number of doctors within a particular state or region. Once complete, the list is published in leading state and regional magazines.

A Texas native, Dr. Carlton earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He is a fellowship trained laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon who was also recognized by Texas Monthly as a Rising Star in 2014 and 2015.

Dr. Roshek graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He is a board certified general surgeon and is fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgical procedures. He, too, was named a Rising Star in 2014 and 2015.
