A single filament with a small count obtained by a single-hole spinneret in the production of chemical fibers.
Monofilament in Chinese is called monofil in foreign language; monofilament is thicker than single filament in multifilament, and features thin quality, transparency and hand feeling.
Its fineness is thicker than that of a single filament in a multifilament. The melted synthetic resin is condensed and condensed through the thin stream of raw liquid pressed out of the capillary hole of the spinneret. Or spin with a multi-hole spinneret (for example, up to 50 holes), and then wind it into a monofilament bobbin through untwisted drawing and splitting.
Thicker synthetic monofilaments of 200~300 tex (2~3 British counts) can be used for fishing nets and ropes, etc. Thinner monofilaments can be used as faux bristle filaments. The finer monofilament is generally 1~1.3 tex (450~600 inch), sometimes as fine as 0.6 tex (1000 inch), and can be processed into elastic yarn for making elastic socks, stockings and other textiles and other advanced knitwear. Textiles made of monofilament are thin, transparent and have a good hand.
