Blepharoplasty is one of the most regularly performed functional and aesthetic facial plastic surgical procedures. This procedure deals with the contours of the upper and lowers eyelid space.

For a lower eyelid lift or lower Blepharoplasty, surgeons make an incision inside the lower eyelid or below the eyelashes, after which excess fat is removed from the area, or repositioned. Support for the muscles and tendons can be inserted if deemed necessary before the incision is closed up.

Lower eyelid surgery or lower Blepharoplasty focuses on the area between the eyelashes and the cheek.

Performed under anesthetic, with an application of antibiotic ointment after the operation, this procedure is relatively safe and simple to perform and is done rather frequently by surgeons. The procedure takes between 45 minutes and two and a half hours to complete, with minimum side effects, which can be resolved by the use of paracetamol.

Miss Pari Shams, BSc, MRCP, FRCOphth graduated with distinction in Medicine, Surgery, Clinical Pharmacology, and Therapeutics, from Guy’s, King’s, and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in London in 1999, and with first-class honors, Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Basic Medical Sciences, being awarded the Roger-Warwick Prize and several other awards for achieving excellence.
