PARKLAND – While many private country clubs in South Florida crave privacy and exclusivity, one club prides itself on reaching out to its local community with a series of golf events that benefit charities and non-profits.
Parkland Golf & Country Club established its Men’s Golf Association (MGA) on Sept. 24, 2020 with the goal of raising funds for a wide range of organizations. The MGA (www.PGCCmga.com) has big plans for increasing membership and providing exposure for sponsors to members and residents of this community.
“For the most part our first year was a big success,” said Bob Sabo, president of the MGA. “Our major goal is to provide financial assistance to local non-profits and we accomplished that through membership fees, sponsorships, and the generous donations of our members.”
Last year, MGA donated more than $12,000 to Parkland Cares, Honor Flight, Susan B. Komen Foundation, Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer, and the TLC Free Little Pantry.
“What differentiates our program is that more than 75 percent of money raised goes directly to these organizations,” added Sabo. “That figure has resulted in a growing membership and great interest from sponsors.”
Sponsors range from large companies to local businesses that see the benefits in supporting local charities and having access to the membership and more than 900 families who live in Parkland Golf & Country Club. The MGA is currently accepting sponsorship applications.
Last year, there were seven well-attended events with various creative formats and contests. The 2022 slate of tournaments will be the same.
Last year’s Title Sponsor was Paton Marketing, a South Florida digital marketing firm. Other sponsorship opportunities are for individual tournaments, beverage carts, contests, and advertising on the website. Andersen Material Handling, Blue Key Equity Partners, One Touch were all tournament sponsors. Promos by Tassel Depot, Bill Sohl/Luxury Home Team, Aldo’s Dry Cleaners, Wells Fargo, and Pasquale’s Pizza were sponsors on various levels.
More than 150 members joined the MGA for the inaugural season and the number is growing for the second season.
“There is also growing interest among corporate sponsors who are interested in giving back to the community,” said Sabo. “Their generosity is impressive and we anticipate this interest to grow.”
