Auf dem UX530UX läuft Windows 10 Home. Um einen Aufpreis von zirka 100€ kann man sich im Store Windows 10 Pro holen, was Features wie Remote Desktop mit sich bringt. Der Einrichtungsprozess dieses Notebooks gestaltete sich als sehr einfach. Einfach Microsoft Konto mit noch ein paar zusätzlichen Daten eingeben, fertig. Ein netter Bonus: In meinem Fall wurde gleich der Desktop Hintergrund von meinem alten Laptop übernommen.

Leider war, wie auf so ziemlich jedem neuen Gerät von Asus, ziemlich viel Bloatware installiert. Bevor ich also irgendetwas anderes installiert habe, habe ich zuerst einmal alles entfernt, was ich nicht brauche. Dies sollte man aber nur tun, wenn man weiß, welche Programme man problemlos löschen kann. Es waren aber auch für mich nützliche Dinge, wie etwas Spotify, Netflix und Office, vorinstalliert. Apps und Programme kann man dann aus dem Windows Store oder von den Herstellern direkt beziehen. Ansonsten bekommt man hier alles, was man auch von jedem anderen Windows Gerät erwarten würde.

Ultrabooks mit Touchscreen – sinnvoll?
Um den Laptop als Ultrabook zu bezeichnen, hatte Intel weder 2011 noch später Vorgaben an die Bildschirmgröße geknüpft. In den vergangenen Jahren haben sich im Wesentlichen zwei Display-Formate etabliert: Ultrabooks gibt es oft mit 13,3-Zoll-Bildschirmen, aber auch mit 14-Zoll-Displays. Die Bilddiagonale bewegt sich so zwischen 33,8 und 35,6 Zentimetern. Übrigens: Der Touchscreen, mit dem sich Windows 10 per Fingertipp bedienen lässt, ist bei Ultrabooks nahezu ausgestorben. Er findet fast ausschließlich nur noch bei Notebook-/Tablet-Kombis (Convertibles) Verwendung. Warum? Die Hersteller wollen immer schlankere Ultrabooks bauen und da ist ihnen der Touchscreen im Weg: Die Bauhöhe vergrößert sich nur durch den berührungsempfindlichen Bildschirm um einen knappen halben Zentimeter – das ruiniert das gesamte Konzept bei ultradünnen Geräten wie dem Acer Swift 7, das nur 1,4 Zentimetern dick ist. Obendrein vermissen die wenigsten Ultrabook-Besitzer einen Touchscreen: Das ständige Hin- und Herspringen zwischen Tastatur, Touchpad und Touchscreen nervte viele Nutzer auf Dauer.
