Bitcoin-Based Search Engine Hope to Take on Google Raises $200K in Crowd Funding

Singapore -- A new startup is using bitcoin micropayments on internet search platforms that reward ALL users – and wants to revolutionize the way we use Search Engine.

The company, SearchTrade, says it wants to share revenue generated from adverting sales with all its users. At the moment, all the revenue flow to the search giants like Google and Bing alone.

SearchTrade co-founder and CEO Vishal Gupta said new technology like bitcoin gives us a chance to disrupt online behemoths, turning Search into something more collaborative and equitable.

"Search is the single most important activity on the internet. Everyone does it, every day. Search drives far more traffic than any social network or viral news site, and it makes a ton of money."

"We're asking people to imagine how much better the internet would be if everyone could share the benefits of their activity."

SearchTrade's Four Stakeholders

The principle behind SearchTrade is simple: give a share of financial rewards to all stakeholders involved in the search process, not just the company providing the platform. Bitcoin micropayments ability make this possible where it wasn't before with fiat money.

SearchTrade has identified four parties with a stake in the search business:

(1) Search User: Gets paid to make the search
(2) Keyword Owner : Buys keywords and gets paid every time the word they own is used as part of search query
(3) App Developer : Builds search apps and gets every time their app is chosen to make a search
(4) Company Itself for managing the system.

SearchTrade's system collects revenues paid by the advertisers and stores it in a community pool, it then evaluates average income per search based on a proprietary algorithm and divides payout amongst four participants equally.

SearchTrade provides users with popular existing search platforms to make their searches, and SearchTrade is also building its own additions. Gupta said he would love to provide users with as much choice as possible, with developers building more localized options.

In order to deter 'click farms' (massive operations using cheap labor to game advertising systems by using them 24/7) SearchTrade limits the number of searches per user per day to 40, and limits access to individual IP addresses.

Company has already launched a Keyword Pre-Sale for early adopters and sold about 1205 keywords to 1000 plus buyers for total of 474.88 BTC with approx USD value of $215K.
