MARLBORO, NEW JERSEY - The New Jersey Electronic Security Association is pleased to announce that Gerard Duffy, CEO of Spectrum Cable & Alarm Systems Inc., has been named the president of the upcoming NJESA Annual Business Meeting and Symposium.

The symposium will be held February 24 - 26, 2016, at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, where NJESA members will convene for the annual event. Duffy will lead the event’s festivities.

Duffy is on the State of NJ Fire Protection Equipment Advisory Committee and is also a member with the North Jersey Master Locksmith Association. He advocates on their behalf. Duffy also served on the Bloomfield Fire Department for 27 years before retiring in 2010.

His company, Spectrum Cable & Alarm Systems Inc., Bloomfield, NJ is a custom systems integrator specialized in residential security applications and has been in business for 36 years.

Duffy is excited to fill the presidency for the NJESA, and he looks forward to initiating new strategies for updating laws and regulations that have not kept up with the industry. “The hardest part for a licensed contractor here in New Jersey is keeping a fair and equal playing field for all our members companies,” Duffy said.

In the state of New Jersey, any person performing alarm contracting must have a license. NJESA works to raise the bar of professionalism in the industry while keeping out potential threats from felons and potential terrorists in the industry. Thus far, the organization represents 300+ security, locksmiths and fire alarm companies, manufacturers, and distributors in the state.
