Once the patient is diagnosed with gynaecological cancer, the type of treatment she will receive depends on various factors such as stage of the disease, size of the tumour, desire to have children and overall health & age of the patient.

• Chemotherapy: It calls for utilisation of cytotoxic drugs to shrink or even kill the cancerous cells; before or after the surgical removal of tumour or during the process of radiotherapy.

• Targeted therapy: It is the use of targeted medicines in either oral or intravenous form for maintaining the remission state of the disease, during or after the chemotherapeutic treatment is over.

• Ultrasound: It is carried out for the study of abdominal and pelvic organs and can identify the cysts or tumours in them.

• CT-scan: It is carried out for a deeper study of abdominal and pelvic organs and can identify the cysts or tumours in them, as well as stage of cancer.

• Biopsy: Here, our specialised oncologist will remove a part of the fluid or tissue from the affected area for a profound study of tissues. Being a microscopic test, it enables doctors to clarify their doubts regarding histology and grade of cancer; so that they may suggest right treatment plan.

• CA-125: It is a blood tests for tumour marker of ovarian cancer. Its main utilisation is for evaluation of treatment response as it is not a very sensitive or specific test.
