[Singapore, January 26, 2016] - SAF offers scholarship opportunities for those who honour service and duty. As the second most prestigious scholarship in Singapore, following the President’s Scholarship, this presents excellent growth opportunities, both on professional and personal levels.
The scholarship program is open to male and female applicants who are citizens of Singapore or permanent residents intending to take up citizenship. But, they need to comply with the following eligibility criteria:
• strong interest in a military career
• qualify for and excel in Officer Cadet School
• strong leadership skills
• good records of co-curricular activities
• GCE 'A' Level (with minimum 11 academic units), International Baccalaureate, Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
Apart from free tuition and academic fees, successful applicants will also have the benefit of receiving a full salary during the duration of their overseas studies. They will have allowances for books, computer, and other maintenance needs as well. The scholarship will also provide return airfare for the participants. Sponsorship for exchange programmes and Master’s degree is possible, too.
SAF scholars may pursue their studies in different fields including but not limited to the following:

• Philosophy, Politics and Economics
• Life Sciences

Interested applicants may still apply even if the universities they are interested in are not included on the list. Their applications, however, will need to undergo approval.

The Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps is a uniformed volunteer scheme which allow more Singaporean citizens and permanent residents to take part in the national defence. It also provides them the opportunities to deepen their understanding of national defence and show support for National Service.
