[b][Singapore, September 5 2016][/b] – The mission of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is to strengthen peace and security in Singapore. They encourage individuals whose desire and motivation is to contribute to the nation’s defence and security. They immerse these volunteers in realistic and engaging training and call-ups in a safe environment.

[b]Steadfast and Vigilant[/b]

Abiding by the motto of the corps, they draw on the spirit, resilience and fortitude of the volunteers, standing united with Full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) and NSmen in defending the nation. They are a committed, credible force that never tires of playing their part in protecting their country.

[b]SAFVC Welcomes Applicants from the Wider Singapore Community[/b]

The SAFVC is open to Singapore citizens and permanent residents aged 18 to 45. They will undergo an interview and medical screening that will assess whether or not they have met the necessary requirements to undergo training and deployment.

[b]Training and Call-up[/b]

The training is conducted in an immersive, but controlled and safe environment. The vast knowledge of the SAFVC’s superiors enhances the effectiveness of the program, which provides volunteers with an understanding and appreciation of the values of the SAF and military ethos.

The training they will undergo is composed of three modules: Basic (2 weeks), Qualification (1 week) and Advanced training (1 week). Only when volunteers complete Qualification Training (Advanced Training, too, in some cases) can they be deployed in roles. Call-ups occur seven days in a year through the SAF100V.

[b]About SAF Volunteer Corps[/b]

The SAF Volunteer Corps (SAFVC) provides Singaporeans and Permanent Residents with the opportunity to contribute and deepen their understanding of the national defence strategy, as well as show their support for National Service. They invite anyone who has the desire and motivation to contribute to the nation’s security and defence. Their base is in Maju Camp, located off Clementi Road. It houses the SAFVC Headquarters and serves as the Formation HQ of the corps. This will also be where they conduct Basic Training.
