A Silent Throne, a Cosmic Choice
In most endings, the player character becomes Elden Lord and restores—or reshapes—the Erdtree and its influence. In contrast, the Age of Stars ending offers a starkly different scene: the Erdtree remains distant, fading behind you. You kneel, not to a divine flame or throne, but in the snow, under the eternal sky.

From above descends Ranni, now fully returned from her long slumber, a goddess of her own making. She is serene, composed, no longer simply the witch in hiding, but the Lunar Queen in her ascendance. Her tone is gentle, but unwavering. Her words, while few, are laced with deep meaning:

“O fairest of stars, now cometh the age of the stars. A thousand-year voyage under the wisdom of the moon…”

Here, the “farewell” is not one of separation, but of departure from the known world. Together, the player and Ranni leave the Lands Between behind. Not to rule, not to rebuild—but to travel the vast cosmos. It’s a love story, yes—but more than that, it’s a story of shared belief, of freedom through detachment from earthly systems of power and control.

The Meaning of the Farewell
What makes the Lunar Queen’s farewell so powerful is its tone of melancholy triumph. Ranni doesn’t promise peace or prosperity. She offers a long voyage into uncertainty—“a thousand-year voyage.” There is no map, no guarantee of safety or glory. Only stars and time.

This act is her rebellion’s final step: removing the Tarnished, the symbol of mortal resilience, from a world of endless conflict. The Erdtree remains standing, but its authority is rendered hollow—its lords gone, its flames unfed. Ranni, who killed her flesh and chose death over fate, now becomes a cosmic sovereign, guiding a new age that is not ruled by divinity, but by the absence of it.

Her farewell, then, is not just to the player—it’s to everything familiar. The Lands Between, once consumed by ambition and decay, are now a closed chapter.
