Are you okay with Star Wars being… fun? Because if you are a person who thinks Star Wars should always be dark, dark and daaaaaaaaaaaaark, then Star Wars Rebels isn’t for you. But for the rest of us, there's a lot to enjoy here.

Are you okay with Star Wars being… fun? Because if you are a person who thinks Star Wars should always be dark, dark and daaaaaaaaaaaaark, then Star Wars Rebels isn’t for you. But for the rest of us, there's a lot to enjoy here.
Set about 15 years after Revenge of the Sith, the new animated series begins on the planet Lothal with Ezra (voiced by Taylor Gray), a young, teenage orphan and thief (yes, he does evoke Aladdin), whose chance encounter with a small group of outlaws — while they’re brazenly stealingfrom Imperial Stormtroopers — results in him ending up on their ship, the Ghost, where his own latent Force abilities capture the attentionof Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.), one of the last surviving Jedi. Ezra ends up learning that Kanan and his allies Hera (Vanessa Marshall),Sabine (Tiya Sircar), Zeb (Steven Blum) and their droid, Chopper, are doing what they can to fight back against the Empire and help those in need.
Star Wars Rebels comes from quite an impressive trio of executive producers, including Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Greg Weisman (The Spectacular Spider-Man, Young Justice) and Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Their team-up doesn’t disappoint, with Rebels quickly establishing a confident and involving vibe that makes it easy to quickly be drawn into the story.
Running around 45 minutes (sans commercials), there isn’t enough time in the premiere episode, "Spark of Rebellion," to get to know everyone fully yet, which makes it all the more appreciated how quickly the main characters leave an impression. This is a very likable, easy to invest in bunch, and the cast have very good chemistry together, establishing the family dynamic onboard the ship. Sure, some of these characters are familiar types, but that is itself classic Star Wars and it’s all about the execution。
Yes, this show may not be uber dark, but it’s not ignoring the perils of this world. Swtor2credit.com There are some dangerous characters pursuing our heroes, and both sides are ready to use lethal force when need be. There is genuine excitement and tension to be had, and you never doubt the threat that Agent Kallus (David Oyelowo) holds, even while his Stormtroopers prove to be, in grand Star Wars tradition, not the greatest shots in the galaxy. Rebels does a great job of capturing a true “adventure” feel, including all the facets that word can encompass.
