Michael Praver, Founder of JW Harding a financial services company since 2008, launched FilmFundingLA.com in 2015. He says, “It’s too commonly the case that a filmmaker’s first project is their last project. The more you spend on a project, the more important it is that you get all the details right. Filmmakers who package their film incorrectly create a project that can never be produced profitably. Sometimes they contractually tie up their project in such a fashion that it can’t be made at all.”

Ray Ellingsen, producer at Motion Pictures Media Group continues, “At this event I’ll review the process of assessing a screenplay, determining budget, and attaching cast and key crew. Armed with this information, filmmakers will be in a better position to understand this critical phase of their project’s development.” Mr. Ellingsen began his film career in 1987 as a writer. He has since gone on to pursue numerous aspects of filmmaking, from directing and producing, to supervising post production of feature films, documentaries, and commercials.

Writer/Producer Nancy Fulton, who will act as event moderator, adds “This event will clear up one of the enduring questions most indie filmmakers have about the process of film funding. What makes an indie film easy to fund? A badly packaged project will find it very hard to get outside support, and if it does get produced, the resulting film will likely to be hard to promote and distribute. Filmmakers benefit from understanding the packaging process.”
