Auffällig ist besonders der Fingerabdrucksensor, der jetzt unter der Kamera platziert ist und nicht mehr daneben wie beim Vorgänger Note 8. Zu den technischen Verbesserungen gehören Insidern zufolge fähigere Kamerasensoren, die es euch durch eine größere Lichtempfindlichkeit einfacher machen, Fotos bei Nacht zu schießen. Dazu könnte wohl auch eine verbesserte Bildstabilisierung beitragen. Apropos Nacht: Auch in langen Nächten hält das Note 9 dank eines offenbar 4000 mAh starken Akkus vermutlich länger durch als sein Vorgänger.Ein Hingucker des Galaxy Note 9 dürfte auch das Display sein, das mit QHD-Plus und mit 6,3-Zoll-Diagonale deutlich heller ausfallen soll. Die Basisausstattung des Phablets scheint ebenfalls bereits festzustehen: Offenbar kommt das Phablet mit 6 GB RAM und 128 GB internem Speicher daher. Die neue Technik hat vermutlich seinen Preis – in Europa wird der des Galaxy Note 9 Schätzungen zufolge bei knapp 1000 Euro liegen.

Im Frühjahr 2019 will Samsung angeblich ein faltbares Flaggschiff-Smartphone vorstellen. Aber auch ein neues Klapp-Smartphone ist Gerüchten zufolge in Arbeit. Dabei dürfte es sich um den Nachfolger des hierzulande nicht offiziell erhältlichen W2018 handeln.Davon geht zumindest der chinesische Twitter-Nutzer @MMDJ aus, der häufiger mit Leaks auf sich aufmerksam macht. In dem unter diesem Artikel eingebundenen Tweet schreibt er: "W2019, Project Lykan, wird eine Dualkamera nutzen." Die Hauptkamera des Vorgängers besitzt dagegen nur ein Objektiv. Ob das kommende Klapp-Smartphone von Samsung tatsächlich das W2019 wird, ist allerdings noch unklar. Der Codename scheint jedenfalls "Project Lykan" zu lauten.

Eine Weltneuheit stellt die Kamera des Samsung W2018 dar. Die Hauptkamera hat zwar nur eine Linse, die mit 12 MP auflöst, doch diese dürfte für gute Fotos bei wenig Licht sorgen: Als erste Smartphone-Knipse verfügt sie über eine lichtstarke Blende von f/1.5. Das ist noch besser als etwa beim LG V30, dessen Hauptlinse eine Blende von f/1.6 bietet. Noch ist aber nicht klar, ob das Klapp-Smartphone von Samsung auch außerhalb von China in den Handel kommt. Der Verkaufspreis ist zwar noch nicht bekannt, doch SamMobile geht davon aus, dass dieser oberhalb von 2000 Dollar liegen könnte.
