Damit die Spiele für Nintendo DS tatsächlich auf Eurem iPhone oder iPad laufen, benötigt Ihr ein Dropbox-Konto – denn das Hinzufügen von ROMs innerhalb der App ist nicht möglich. Ladet die ROMs als Zip-Datei in Eure Dropbox und nutzt auf dem iPhone bzw. iPad den "Öffnen mit"-Dialog. Dort könnt Ihr dann nds4ios auswählen. Das ROM wird dann automatisch hinzugefügt und lässt sich künftig direkt aus der Emulator-App starten.Dabei solltet Ihr bedenken, dass es sich bei nds4ios nicht um eine offizielle Anwendung handelt, die Ihr im App-Store herunterladen könnt. Wenn Ihr also Sicherheitsbedenken habt, solltet Ihr besser auf die Installation verzichten.

Für alle, die auf eine Möglichkeit gewartet haben, um ihre alten Nintendo DS-Spiele ohne Jailbreak auf einem iOS-Gerät nutzen zu können, kann nds4ios eine willkommene Anwendung darstellen. Im April 2014 war der Emulator bereits einmal erhältlich – die neue Version richtet sich offenbar gezielt an Geräte mit der aktuellen Software-Version iOS 8.4.Retro-Games von Nintendo auf iOS spielen – dazu wird ein neuer Emulator namens "Delta" offenbar in der Lage sein. Die Ankündigung dazu erfolgte von Riley Testut auf Twitter, dem Entwickler des beliebten Emulators GBA4iOS.et Ihr sicher auch schon einmal. Mittlerweile gibt es glücklicherweise viele Retro-Games auch als App. Nintendo-DS-Spiele können sogar mit einem Emulator gespielt werden, der im Gegensatz zu anderen Varianten nicht einmal einen Jailbreak voraussetzt.

Mit dem Paket nds4ios lässt sich Nintendo-DS-Software auf dem iPad, iPod oder iPhone installieren, ohne dass ein vorheriger Jailbreak nötig ist. Der von Karen Tsai entwickelte Emulator lässt sich direkt von der Website herunterladen und auf Geräten installieren, die iOS 5.1.1 oder höher nutzen. Dazu müsst Ihr nur vor dem Download das Datum Eures Gerätes auf den 8. Februar 2014 zurückstellen und den automatischen Datumsabgleich ausschalten. Damit stellt Ihr sicher, dass das Zertifikat auch angenommen wird.Nds4ios soll mit den meisten Nintendo-DS-Games kompatibel sein. Ihr könnt sie im Hoch- und Querformat spielen. Es gibt virtuelle Steuerknöpfe und die Spiele können sogar auf Wunsch direkt vom Cloud-Speicher Dropbox eingelesen werden.
