Few educational institutions put focus on the field of psychological studies as JCU Singapore. The university’s Psychology Department caters to both undergraduate and graduate students, with multiple course completion options at their disposal. JCU Singapore’s teaching and research facilities for psychology are excellent, and students are afforded the opportunity for hands-on training at the in-campus psychology clinic.

Academic Paths Available

Undergraduates have two major paths to choose from, both on-campus. The first is the Bachelor of Psychological Science — Honours Course. This is the shorter option, as students are given 12 months (full-time) or 20 months (part-time) to satisfy the course requirements. Next is the conventional Bachelor of Psychological Science program, also on-campus. Students are given a minimum of 24 months (full-time) or 48 months (part-time) to complete the course.

For graduate students, there are three programs to choose from: Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology), Graduate Diploma of Psychology, and Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology). Completion duration and modes are as follows:

- Doctorate: 4 years full time, and up to 8 years part-time (on-campus)
- Graduate Diploma: 12 months full-time (on-campus)
- Master’s Degree: 2 years full time, and up to 4 years part-time (on-campus)

JCU Singapore psychology graduates who complete an APAC-accredited four-year course can apply as practitioners with the Psychology Board of Australia via conditional registration. An additional two years’ worth of supervised practice in Australia (or a Master’s Degree) qualifies one to be a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). The local Singapore Psychological Society also bares its own set of requirements for practitioners.
