Panama Private Foundations

Based on the model for family and mixed foundations, created by the Principality of Liechtenstein in 1926, the Republic of Panama adapted this European model by combining the traits of Panamanian corporations and the benefits afforded by trusts to establish a more modern and convenient vehicle, known today as the Private Foundation.

Private Foundations offer clear advantages in terms of asset protection, personal and family asset planning and they suitably and efficiently aid in carrying out transactions.

Seychelles Foundations

The Seychelles Foundation is the latest addition to our Seychelles financial services portfolio. Seychelles Foundations are separate legal entities that may own assets in their own right.

Once the founder transfers assets to a foundation, those assets become the sole property of that foundation with full legal and beneficial title and ownership and do not form part of the founder’s personal estate.

The structure of the Seychelles Foundation is quite similar to that of the Panama Foundation, the latter also being a highly flexible separate legal entity that may be used for asset protection, estate plans or inheritance matters.

Seychelles’ growing economy provides an ideal environment for the establishment of foundations. The law that governs the creation of Private Foundations in this jurisdiction is the Foundation Act, which came into force in 2009.
