When it comes to social media marketing campaigns, most businesses aren't maximising opportunities. But now, thanks to Zaapt , a brand new planning and scheduling tool designed to help marketing teams collaborate on social media campaigns, that sorry state of affairs may be about to come to an end. Zaapt is a tool based around a visual content calendar, where teams can pin ideas, create content, quickly approve or suggest edits and schedule to social channels with 1-click, making it something that everybody on the team can use. The app is already being used by some of London’s top agencies and brands, including TH_NK, University Cribs, BIMA, LCA and The British Council.

The app itself is the brainchild of London-based marketing duo, James Jezusek and Jenny Woods and backed by Paul Birch, founder of one of the original social networks, Bebo. The founders saw a need to develop the app after they discovered just how much money was being lost by companies through social media marketing errors.

As Jezusek puts it,

"We built Zaapt to save ourselves a load of time and minimise the chance of mistakes, which can be very costly to your brand. Having a platform that allows teams to work together and create campaigns quickly and without error is indispensable, and it's already saving teams hours of work.”

According to Altimeter, social media crises are on the rise. Currently a mere 23 percent of marketers are satisfied with the way that their teams work and over 90 percent of businesses are still reliant on spreadsheets to plan their social media campaigns. Giant American technology company Symantec has estimated that a single mistake on social media costs companies an average of $4.3 million in sales.

At the same time, the importance of social media to business marketing efforts has grown dramatically. Jobs that require social media skills have increased 89% over the last two years and everyone from company CEOs, agencies and people on the ground are involved in creating meaningful and reactive social content. Thus, the team at Zaapt are investing in ways to mitigate the costs of errors while at the same time offering a platform that is accessible to non-technical team members.

According to Zaapt’s own research, the social media industry shows no sign of slowing down. If anything, it is accelerating in importance. Instant messaging app Slack, for instance, is now valued at $3.8 billion, whilst project management tools such as Basecamp continue to grow their multi-million strong user base. Social media platforms overall show increasing popularity with Facebook adding half million new users daily with 2 billion users now accessing social platforms on our mobile devices.

Zaapt hopes that its app - “a tool," it says, "you don’t need a degree to use” - will help companies all over the world capitalise on the growing importance of social media. Currently, the outfit is offering free seminars to customers on how to use all of its many and varied features. Businesses that are interested can head over to their website to start their free trial today.
