Some people do not know the difference between chow mein and lo mein when they're looking at recipes that are Chinese. There's a big difference between them both. Let me start off by explaining what each one is.
What Is Chow Mein?
Chow mein means "fried noodles." These noodles are your best bet when you have a recipe that calls for either fresh or dried noodles.
What Is Lo Mein?
Lo Mein mean "discarded noodles." When you might have a recipe that calls for "fresh egg noodles," this is the best bet.
Chow Mein Vs Lo Mein
It's all the preparation of each noodle when it comes down to this chow mein vs lo mein deal. They may be the same - they are even made out of the exact same ingredients - but you use them differently. Both of them are made with wheat flour and egg. Both noodles need to be softened in boiling water either way, only for times that are different. Dried noodles need 5-6 minutes to boil, while fresh egg noodles only need 2-3 minutes to cook. The cooking time also depends upon the depth you need to your own noodles.

Here are some essential Chinese recipes for both dishes that I believe you'll enjoy.
Simple Chow-Mein
1 Cup: Celery
2 teaspoons: Garlic
1/8 tsp: Ginger (Ground)
1 Cup: White Onion
12 oz.: Cow Mein Noodles; Cooked
1/8 teaspoon: Black Pepper
1 Tablespoon: Brown Sugar
3 Tablespoon: Oil
Ways:
Heat oil and add onions and celery, cook until onions are transparent.
Add pepper, garlic, ginger, soy sauce and sugar.
Add sauce to skillet and then toss noodles and enjoy!
Simple Lo-Mein
3 Cups: Baby Spinach
1: Carrot
2 Cloves: Garlic
1/2 tsp: Ginger (ground)
1/2 Cup: Snow Peas
2 Tbsp: Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp: Sriracha
8 oz.: Lo Mein Egg Noodles
2 teaspoon: Sugar
1 Tablespoon: Oil
1 teaspoon: Sesame Oil
Directions:
For the sauce:
Whisk soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, ginger, and sriracha
Cook noodles in boiling more, drain, set aside.
Heat oil over moderate heat in wok or large frying pan. Add garlic, mushrooms, pepper and carrot and cook until tender (3 minutes). Stir sauce and toss noodles and serve immediately and enjoy!
Egg Rolls
1/2 pound: Any Meat You Select
2 Cloves: Garlic
2 teaspoon: Ginger
1: Egg
1 Bag: Cabbage and Carrot Coleslaw Bag Mix
1 tsp: Salt
1 tsp: Sugar
1 tsp: Oil
1 teaspoon: Sesame Oil
12: Egg Roll Wraps
1 teaspoon: Water
Directions:
Cook meat with ginger and garlic; empty it if grease is left behind.
Combine and sesame oil and add to meat in the pan.
Pour over veggies and stir. Allow it to cool.
So it is facing you put wrap and place 3 Tbsp of filling in the middle of each wrapper.
Fold bottom point over fill and roll once. Fold in right and left points.
Brush the beaten egg and finish rolling. Repeat with next 11 wrappings.
Either fry in frying pan or bake for 10 to a quarter hour at 350.
