In einer Sony-Zubehörliste für eine Ladestation mit Bluetooth-Lautsprecher tauchte erstmals ein Hinweis auf ein Sony Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact auf. Über dieses kompakte Tablet ist bislang nichts bekannt. Das Insider-Blog "GSMArena" spekuliert über die Ausstattung des Sony Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact, die sich möglicherweise an den neuen Smartphone-Modellen Xperia Z3 und Z3 Compact orientiert. So könnte ein Snapdragon 801 Quad-Core-Prozessor mit 2,45 GHz-Taktung sowie 3 GB RAM eingebaut sein und für sehr flotte Zugriffe sorgen. Ob das Z3 Tablet Compact ebenfalls eine leistungsstarke Hauptkamera mit 20-Megapxiel-Sensor besitzt wie das neue Sony Flaggschiff Xperia Z3 (Erste Infos) ist eher unwahrscheinlich. Vermutlich stattet Sony das Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact mit einem hoch auflösenden Display im 7-Zoll- oder 8-Zoll-Format aus. Ein robustes, wassergeschütztes Gehäuse ist auch ziemlich wahrscheinlich.

Diese Angaben beruhen ausschließlich auf Vermutungen. Bislang gibt es keine weiteren Leaks aus einer anderen Quelle zum kompakten Tablet von Sony. Der interne Speicher, bei dem lediglich 1,1 GB frei verfügbar sind, bietet wenig Reserven. Per Speicherkarte ist dieser Speicher jedoch erweiterbar. Das 115 Gramm leichte Phone wird mit dem recht aktuellen Betriebssystem Android 4.3 ausgeliefert.
