Westervelt Wildlife, part of the greater Westervelt Company, has owned their land for many generations, during which time they have developed their property, in addition to timber production, into an excellent destination for recreational activities for the deer hunter.
This they have achieved by employing qualified wildlife biologists and managers that understand how good buck and doe’s are raised on a well-managed tract of land. They were also the first company in Alabama to open a public hunting lodge, the well-known Westervelt Lodge at Aliceville, AL. Their successes led to neighbors, and land owners in neighboring states, asking them to help them manage their lands – also to be managed and developed for recreational purposes.
They employ the wildlife biologists, managers and support staff to ensure they manage every aspect of wildlife conservation and recreational opportunities for visiting hunters, on their own land, and also that of their clients as well. Their skills and expertise allow them to offer clients habitat management plans for deer, also deer management plans, and wildlife management and conservation across vast areas of the Southeast. They also manage hunting leases, on their own lands, as well as for many other landowners.
The company’s Lease Manager, Matt David, was quoted at a recent meeting with landowners who are prospective new clients, “We are known as a leading wildlife consultancy that institutes effective deer property management systems for owners of land in the Southeast. We offer great experience in this regard, as we know that proper hunting and success in the field never happens by chance. It requires great planning, proper herd and habitat management, and hard work.”
Westervelt offers their services to those owners that want to improve their lands for purposes of deer hunting, among their aims. They meet with owners, discuss their aims, the strong and weak points of the property, then put a plan in place. Their biologists and managers see to it that certain tasks are carried out to create a great habitat for deet to thrive. This includes, for example, clearing of invasive growth, helping to restore normal vegetation and habitat, as well as controlled hunting, and not senseless culling. All of these and other methodologies lead to good herds being raised in habitat that suits their nature.
This is an ongoing process which Westervelt has instituted on their own lands, and which they offer their clients in Alabama, as well as in many other states.
