Whilst traditional curtains or net curtains were once the standard way to decorate and offer some privacy to bare windows, blinds have been popular for many years now and their popularity seems to be constantly rising.
Due to this popularity and a somewhat endless requirement from homes up and down the country for blinds, there are dozens upon dozens of companies operating in every part of the country, making it difficult to decide who you should pick.
Therefore, if you're currently in this position, take a look through the following five steps to help you choose the most suitable blind company for your needs.
1. Take recommendations - one of the most important pieces of advice when choosing a blind company is that you should always, where possible, take recommendations.
Ask your friends, family and work colleagues if they've had blinds fitted recently or know anyone who's had blinds fitted in the last few months, as people, more often than not, are always willing to promote a company who has carried out some good work.
By being recommended a company, this isn't a definitive reason to go with that company, but it should put you at ease that someone else has felt that the work they carried out was of a high enough standard to be recommended.
2. Look at their portfolio of work - whether it's on their website or on paper, most companies will have a portfolio of their completed work that they can show to you so that you can see the quality of their work.
If they don't, this isn't a reason not to use them - just make sure that you're confident the blinds you have installed are going to look like the ones in the pictures in the company's brochure.
3. Compare prices - as you should with any product or service that you're handing over money for, you need to compare the prices of at least three separate blind companies to see if any company is offering their blinds for a particularly cheap or expensive price.
Whilst it might be difficult to get an exact like-for-like quote, as each company's blinds are likely to be different, as long as you take into consideration things such as the materials used, style wanted and additional aspects like customised or bespoke blinds, you should be able to get a good idea of an average price for the type of blinds that you're looking for.
4. Have an idea of what it is that you want - blinds vary massively in everything from size and style to shape and design and therefore it's important that you know what it is that you want before you go out looking for blind companies.
However, it's always a good idea to not have exact ideas about your needs and to ask the blind company for their recommendations, as a quality company should be able to offer advice on what exactly will work best for you and your needs.
