Damit bietet sich das Spectre als leistungsstarker Alltagsbegleiter für Menschen mit gut gefüllter Brieftasche an. Und Schüler und Studenten greifen etwa zum noch wesentlich leichteren und größeren Acer Swift 5.Die Haptik hält, was die Optik verspricht. In den Händen fühlt sich der 13-Zöller sehr hochwertig an. Wir entdecken keine auffälligen Spaltmaße oder sonstige Unregelmäßigkeiten im Mix aus Aluminium- und Kunststoffoberflächen. Schütteln wir das Spectre kräftig, gibt es keinen Laut von sich - ein gutes Zeichen.Das HP Spectre 13 ist gerade einmal 10,4 Millimeter dick. Auf "normal" große USB-Anschlüsse müsst ihr daher bauartbedingt genauso verzichten, wie auf einen SD-Kartenleser. Und der Hersteller verlegt sämtliche Ports auf die Rückseite des Ultrabooks, was ungewöhnlich ist.Dort finden wir dafür gleich drei USB-Type-C-Anschlüsse, zwei davon sind Thunderbolt 3-fähig. Folgerichtig verzichtet HP auch auf einen propritären Netzteilstecker. Ganz links am Gehäuserand verbaut der Hersteller einen Kopfhörereingang - die Klinke ist fast genauso dick, wie das Gehäuse.

Das neue HP Spectre 13 kommt mit Touchscreen ins Haus, Wahlmöglichkeiten bestehen diesbezüglich nicht. Wir hätten uns jedoch eine weniger spiegelnde Anzeige gewünscht, denn genau wie beim Dell XPS 13 reicht die Maximalhelligkeit manchmal nicht aus, um die Spiegelungen zu überstrahlen. Das macht den Einsatz unter freiem Himmel manchmal zu einem Geduldsspiel.Erschwerend hinzu kommt die Tatsache, dass sich das Display nicht weiter als um knapp 120 Grad nach hinten klappen lässt. Ein Tribut an die extravaganten Scharniere, die bei zugeklapptem Deckel vollständig verschwinden. Als weiteren Negativ-Kritikpunkt führen wir an, dass die Scharniere, so schick sie auch sein mögen, den Touchscreen zu lasch in die Zange nehmen. Dies hat zur Folge, dass das per Gorilla Glass geschützte Display nach Berührung ordentlich nachwippt.

Das Öffnen von sehr großen Excel-Tabellen fällt der Testkonfiguration hingegen leicht. Geradezu sensationell schnell absolviert das HP-Notebook den Kaltstart. Fahrt den Windows 10-Laptop komplett herunter und es vergehen nach dem Druck auf den schmalen Power-Schalter sensationelle acht Sekunden, bis der Touchscreen wieder auf Eingaben reagiert.Im Benchmarkprogramm Cinebench R15 absolviert das Spectre den OpenGL-Test mit durchschnittlich 43,91 Bildern in der Sekunde. Nach Abschluss des CPU-Tests stehen durchschnittlich 513 CB-Punkte (Multi-Core) auf der Uhr. Gute, wenngleich auch keine herausragende Werte. Zum Vergleich: Das kürzlich von uns getestete Dell XPS 13 erzielte mit dem gleichen Intel Core i-Prozessor der achten Generation, jedoch mit doppelt so viel Arbeitsspeicher 59,28 Bilder in der Sekunde und 701 Cinebench-Punkte.
